One of New England’s Finest Early 20th-Century Summer Estate
The Fells is set on 83.5 acres of beautiful and tranquil land that was the summer home of diplomat and statesman John Milton Hay (1838-1905).
The visit includes a guided tour of the 22-room Colonial Revival home and the renowned gardens. We may also explore the forests and walk the woodland trails on the shores of Lake Sunapee.
The Fells is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a preservation project of The Garden Conservancy.
The Director of Landscaping will guide us through The Fells’ gardens and knowledgeable docents will provide a tour of the family home where we’ll learn more about Hay’s diplomatic career.
Lunch will be at Bubba’s Bar and Grille (full menu offered; paid by attendees) in Newbury minutes away from The Fells right on Lake Sunapee at 1:30. Bubba’s is a popular spot in the area, so we’ll have a real treat before we head back to Burlington.
Transportation: provided by Premier Bus Company.
